WASHINGTON -- David Wright should be playoff-bound. Of course, it will be in the Mets minor league system.
Wright traveled to Port St. Lucie, Fla., on Thursday to ramp up his rehab from a strained right hamstring that landed him on the disabled list on Aug. 3.
Wright recently estimated a six-week recovery time, which means a mid-September return.
With Class A St. Lucie and the Port St. Lucie-based Gulf Coast League team having concluded their seasons, Terry Collins indicated Wright eventually would have to take his rehab tour to a Mets affiliate still in the postseason.
Las Vegas, Binghamton, Savannah and Kingsport all have clinched, with Brooklyn trailing by a half-game entering Sunday. It is unclear whether any will still be playing when Wright is ready for rehab games.
“Hopefully we’ll have a team in the playoffs and he can go get some at-bats,” Collins said.
