Valverde, Farnsworth have outs

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Jose Valverde and Kyle Farnsworth have outs in their contracts if they are not going to make the Opening Day roster, according to the New York Post.

Farnsworth can ask for his release within 24 hours if he is not assured a roster spot by March 23. Valverde has the same option on March 26.

Both nonetheless are expected to make the team, barring poor Grapefruit League showings.

Valverde's $1 million base salary reportedly includes $75,000 incentives for 40, 45 and 50 appearances, $100,000 for 55, 60 and 65 appearances. It also includes bonuses of $100,000 for 30 and 35 games finished, $250,000 for 40 and 45 games finished and $300,000 for 50 games finished.
