PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Wilfredo Tovar departed Friday's game in the bottom of the seventh after pulling up lame as he approached first base on a single to right-center.
Tovar, who is likely to open the season in the minors despite being the only backup middle-infielder candidate on the 40-man roster, minimized the injury to his right hamstring after departing the game.
"Now it's OK," Tovar insisted.
Said Terry Collins: “He’s moving around very good. He just felt it grab, so we took him out. But he’ll be fine.”
