Mets demote Socolovich after game

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- After a bevy of prospect cuts before Tuesday's game, the Mets made

lastname Socolovich one move afterward. Right-hander Miguel Socolovich was sent to minor-league camp, reducing the number of remaining players to 38, including rehabbing Matt Harvey and Jeremy Hefner.

Socolovich, 27, allowed four hits and four walks and hit two batters in seven scoreless Grapefruit League innings.

Socolovich, a native of Venezuela, made a combined 12 relief appearances in the majors with the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago Cubs in 2012. He pitched for Hiroshima in Japan last season.
