Ervin Santana makes his Braves debut Thursday against the Mets.
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Ervin Santana will make his Atlanta Braves debut on Thursday at 1:10 p.m. against the Mets at Tradition Field.
Santana signed with Atlanta on a one-year, $14.1 million deal after the Braves lost Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy to injuries.
Medlen underwent his second Tommy John surgery Tuesday. The procedure was performed by Dr. James Andrews, who also did the first surgery, in August 2010.
Zack Wheeler is expected to start for the Mets on Thursday opposite Santana.
Atlanta is bringing several starters, including Jason Heyward, Justin Upton and B.J. Upton. See the full travel list here.
