PHOENIX -- Zack Wheeler appeared disappointed no one inquired about his revised delivery during the right-hander's postgame press conference. So Wheeler brought up the change himself.
Wheeler reverted to lifting his hands over his hand during his windup, which he had not done since he was a youngster. He ended up limiting the Arizona Diamondbacks to two runs on six hits and three walks in 6 1/3 innings. He earned his first win since last Aug. 31 in an eventual 7-3 victory at Chase Field on Monday night. He threw 97 pitches.
"Before the game tonight, I was like, 'If I do bad tonight, people are going to be asking about that,'" Wheeler said with a laugh.
As for his outing, Wheeler said: "I would have liked to have finished that seventh, but the pitches started getting up there a little bit. I walked that guy, so it's understandable."
