DENVER -- Juan Lagares is 5-for-15 with three extra-base hits and two RBIs in three games since returning from the disabled list.

Still, Terry Collins decided to sit Lagares in Sunday’s series finale.
The reasoning is straightforward:
• Collins does not want to overdo it with Lagares as he returns from a pulled right hamstring, especially given the amount of running Lagares has done manning center field at spacious Coors Field.
• Eric Young Jr. needs to get into the lineup after three days on the bench.
Said Collins: “The other day I thought about it and said, ‘You know, he’s playing really good. He’s doing a lot of running in this park. And the dry air.’ All those things combined, I thought today might be the day and get him ready for tomorrow.”
UPDATE: Lagares was a late addition to the starting lineup after E.Y. Jr. was scratched.
