WASHINGTON -- MLB rules prohibit Sandy Alderson from directly speaking about waivers, but the GM offered enough information Wednesday to reveal Bartolo Colon has not yet completed the process.
Asked if there was clarity about whether Colon is eligible or ineligible to be traded, Alderson acknowledged there was no verdict yet.
If Colon clears waivers, he can be dealt to any team. If he is claimed, the Mets can (1) dump his contract on the claiming team, (2) work out a trade with that team or (3) pull back Colon, making him ineligible to be dealt anywhere in August.
"There's no concrete resolution," Alderson told ESPNNewYork.com on Wednesday about whether Colon is able to be traded. "You mean has he been claimed on waivers? There hasn't been any concrete resolution."
