MIAMI -- The deadline to trade a player and have him eligible for the acquiring team's postseason roster passed at midnight and the Mets remained intact, as had been expected.
Teams signaled they were unwilling to absorb Bartolo Colon's full $11 million salary for 2015 when he went unclaimed while on waivers last week. The Mets are expected to trade a starting pitcher this winter, with Colon a logical candidate. Jonathon Niese could be an alternative.
