After a groundball moved Bogaerts to third base, Tony Thomas produced a sacrifice fly. DeGrom tossed eight innings. He allowed three hits and struck out eight. Portland's Brandon Workman tossed seven scoreless innings. He allowed four hits and struck out nine. Binghamton’s biggest threat came in the eighth against reliever Chris Martin. Allan Dykstra led off with a single. Josh Rodriguez pinch-ran and advanced to third on Blake Forsythe's single. Martin escaped the jam, however, by consecutively striking out Danny Muno and Wilfredo Tovar. Martin retired Binghamton in order in the ninth for the save. Box

CHARLOTTE 5, ST. LUCIE 2: Frank Francisco tossed a perfect inning, striking out one, in his first rehab appearance. Francisco's fastball ranged from 90-92 mph. Pedro Feliciano also tossed a scoreless frame with two strikeouts. His fastball sat at 82-83 mph. Charlotte built a 4-0 lead after three innings against starter Marcos Camarena. St. Lucie's runs came in the seventh, on a solo homer by Aderlin Rodriguez and Albert Cordero single that plated Travis Taijeron. Box

The Gnats produced a six-run third inning that began with a two-out single by Brandon Nimmo. Jayce Boyd, Cole Frenzel and Jeff Glenn then consecutively walked to force in a run.
