Duda had a pair of two-run homers against Mike Leake to lift the Mets to a 4-3 win against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night.

The performance came on the day Terry Collins officially announced his intention to give Duda a prolonged look at first base.

“We’ve got two other capable first basemen in Josh Satin and Ike Davis,” Duda said. “I’m just glad to play and contribute any way I can.

“It’s just one day. That’s all it really is.”

Duda similarly downplayed any suggestion that him being named the regular first baseman allowed him to relax and therefore produce at the plate. He had entered the day hitless in six at-bats.

“It’s just another day,” Duda said.

All but two of Duda's 15 homers last season had been solo shots.

As for the homers off Leake, Duda added: “One was a changeup that was kind of up, and I was fortunate enough to barrel it. The next was just a fastball. Same thing.”
