PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Dilson Herrera delivered a tiebreaking solo homer in the eighth inning against Manny Corpas that lifted Colombia to a 2-1 win over host Panama on Sunday in the final of a World Baseball Classic qualifier.
Colombia earned a berth in the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
Herrera hit .364 as Colombia went unbeaten in the qualifying tournament at Rod Carew Stadium in Panama City.
Mets farmhand Nabil Crismatt started for Colombia and allowed one run on three hits and two walks in 3 1/3 innings. He struck out four.
