Johnson offers updates on myriad of players

NEWARK, N.J. -- Before Wednesday night's game against the Golden State Warriors, New Jersey Nets head coach Avery Johnson offered updates regarding the status of small forward Quinton Ross (back), rookie small forward Damion James (grade I concussion), point guard Deron Williams (birth) and center Johan Petro (illness).

"Obviously, Ross is out," Johnson said. "We hope to get Ross back on the court next week doing some sort of cardio exercises, non-contact. Damion James, we hope to have him back early next week riding the bike, doing some stuff. He’s definitely out until the latter part of next week. Just got a text from Deron. Things are going well. He’ll be back at some point on Saturday for practice on Sunday. Petro is gonna suit up tonight but probably won’t play. Yeah, he’s fine."

With Williams and James out, Johnson will go with a starting five on Wednesday night that features Jordan Farmar, Anthony Morrow, Sasha Vujacic, Kris Humphries and Brook Lopez.
