How's this for out-of-left-field?
According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein and others, the Knicks have emerged as a favorite to land free agent big man Tyson Chandler.
The Knicks would need to amnesty point guard Chauncey Billups to free up the cap space, but that wouldn't and shouldn't stop them.
Earlier Thursday, the Warriors had made a four-year, $60 million offer for Chandler, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area reported. But his preference -- as you can see from the headline above -- is to play in the Big Apple.
Remember, the Nets were thought of as a player in the Chandler chase, but now it doesn't seem plausible given these recent developments.
The Nets could still get Nene, but other teams are in the running for his services.
