ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard just reported that the Nets lost out to the Clippers in their pursuit of Caron Butler.
Sources told Broussard the free agent small forward will sign a three-year, $24 million contract.
The Nets will have to explore other avenues in an attempt to upgrade at the 3 spot.
ESPN.com's Ric Bucher reports that the Nets offered four years, $30 million for Butler.
A source told Yahoo! Sports that the Nets “eased back on Butler” not wanting to overpay like they did last season.
