The Nets are reportedly going to present free-agent center Nene with a four-year contract offer worth between $60 million and $65 million, according to Yahoo! Sports.
The report says Nets GM Billy King is likely going to give the offer to Nene's agent, Dan Fegan, on Friday.
The Nets have said all along that they were confident that they'd land either Nene or Tyson Chandler in free agency.
They had hoped to land Orlando's Dwight Howard. But with the whole meeting and tampering fiasco that has emerged, the Nets appear ready to move in another direction.
It is obviously unknown at this point how a possible deal with Nene would affect their future pursuit of Howard.
