Hawks forward Tracy McGrady will likely get the Kris Humphries treatment next time he comes to New Jersey.
McGrady told Yahoo! Sports that he can’t see Magic center Dwight Howard teaming up with point guard Deron Williams in the Garden State and later Brooklyn. Instead, T-Mac says, the duo would be better off forming a new Big 3 in Dallas with Dirk Nowitzki -- or rather a “Big 3 in Big D.”
“I can't see him coming here,” McGrady said of D-12 in New Jersey. “If it's just Dwight and D-Will, he's better off just staying in Orlando. You want to go to a team that's championship caliber, and just him and D-Will won't get it done. There's got to be other pieces around to make it look sweet.”
“D-Will is from Dallas,” McGrady added. “You've got Dirk Nowitzki there. They're going to have [cap space] there. That looks sweet. Dirk. D-Will. And then you get Dwight Howard. That's it, right there.”
The Hawks, who waxed the Nets in their final home opener in New Jersey, will visit the Prudential Center again on Jan. 9.
The Mavericks could conceivably make that dream crushing scenario happen with all the cap space they’ve cleared off the books heading into the summer of 2012. And billionaire Mark Cuban would love nothing more than to stick it to the NBA as well as fellow billionaire, Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov, who is a bit preoccupied with trying to become president in his native Russia.
If the Mavericks could make this happen, it would probably make the loss of Tyson Chandler a lot more easier to swallow.
