New Jersey Nets rookie shooting guard MarShon Brooks will play on Friday night in Detroit against the Pistons, the team announced.
Brooks, who was a game-time decision, had missed the last six games with a broken toe on his right foot.
The 23-year-old is averaging 14.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 17 games (nine starts).
This week he was chosen to play in the Rising Stars Challenge at NBA All-Star weekend on Feb. 24, but it is unknown if he’ll be able to go given that he’s just coming off the injury now.
Brooks will be limited on Friday night, coach Avery Johnson told reporters in Detroit before the game.
Brooks was supposed to be out until at least Sunday, the Nets said. But he progressed faster than expected, GM Billy King told reporters on a Friday morning conference call.
The Nets (8-19) have four straight, so they’ll be glad to have Brooks back in the lineup, even if it’s only in a limited capacity.
