Nets coach Avery Johnson is looking forward to the Deron Williams vs. Chris Paul matchup on Wednesday night at Prudential Center.
“This would be a game I’d buy a ticket for if I wasn’t coaching,” Johnson said.
Williams is 12-4 in his career against Paul, averaging 16.7 points and 8.4 assists in those games.
But given that the Nets have been decimated by injuries and don’t have Brook Lopez, they’ll be heavy underdogs in this one.
• The Nets have lost seven straight games at home, and are 3-13 there this season.
“It’s not gonna be an easy task [Wednesday night], but our team is ready for the challenge,” Johnson said.
The Nets are wearing their ABA throwback jerseys; they are 0-5 when wearing them this season.
• Johnson had no update on center Mehmet Okur (lower back), who is listed on the injury report as being out until at least Thursday.
• Forbes reported that Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov, who recently lost out on the Russian presidency, has a net worth of $13.2 billion -- or nearly five billion less than he was worth last year.
