Browns claim Stony Brook star Maysonet

It didn’t take long for Miguel Maysonet to find a new team.

The former Stony Brook star, released Monday by the Philadelphia Eagles, was claimed on waivers Tuesday by the Cleveland Browns, according to a source.

The Browns are fairly deep at running back, so it won’t be easy for Maysonet -- an undrafted free agent -- to make the team. Ahead of him are Trent Richardson, Montario Hardesty, Dion Lewis, Chris Ogbonnaya and Brandon Jackson.

Maysonet never got much of a chance with the Eagles. He participated in three practices during the recent rookie minicamp, but he had to sit out the first week of OTA practices because of an NCAA rule. His class at Stony Brook graduates Friday, so he’ll be able to join the Browns at that time.

Maysonet was a small-school sensation, rushing for more than 1,900 yards last season and finishing second in the voting for the Walter Payton Award, given to the top player on the FCS level.
