A.J. No. 2, Hughes No. 3

It's official: Joe Girardi designated A.J. Burnett as his No. 2 starter after today's game with the Blue Jays (which ended in a 5-5 tie), Phil Hughes the No. 3. (No need to remind you who's No. 1, is there?) "That was our plan all along,'' the manager said, although why it took his so long to announce it is something only he knows. "Either way, just give me the ball,'' Burnett said this monring, before the decision was announced.

I'll have a news story and column up with my thoughts on the matter soon.
