Teixeira: "So far, so good" after another 3-run job

With the snow covering the ground around his Greenwich home, Mark Teixeria made a change. He hit more than he has ever hit before in the winter.

He estimated 30 to 40 percent more. After buying an Iron Mike pitching machine and having it installed 15 minutes from his home at Bobby Valentine's Sports Complex in Stamford, Teixeira can feel the difference.

“It is substantial,” Teixeira said.

The change has been quite noticeable as Teixeira hit another three-run homer on Saturday. That is his second in as many games. He now has the same amount of homers as he did all of the first month of the season. His six RBIs are three less than he had in the entire first month of last season.

"So far, so good," Teixeira said.

In his career, Teixeira has hit home run in at least two straight games on 42 occasions. But this was only the third time he has done it prior to May 1, according to BaseballRefrence.com.

“You can’t say enough about Tex,” Alex Rodriguez said. “I’m obviously one of his biggest fans. He is a great player and a class act. Give him a lot of credit for going and changing his whole complete winter workouts. He bought an Iron Mike [pitching machine] and hit around the clock.”

Last year, Teixeira's second home run didn't happen until Game No. 15.
