Yankees sign Silva

To give themselves more depth, the Yankees have picked up another failing veteran that they hope they can find some magic. The one thing about picking up Carlos Silva is that Larry Rothschild was his pitching coach when he started hot last year.

Here is the release:

Today the Yankees signed RHP Carlos Silva to a minor league contract. Silva is expected to report on Wednesday to the Yankees minor league complex in Tampa.

Silva has a 70-70 career mark with a 4.68 ERA (1,241.2IP, 645ER) in 316 games (180 starts) in nine Major League seasons (2002-10). In 2010, he was 10-6 with a 4.22 ERA (113.0IP, 53ER) in 21 starts with the Chicago Cubs.
