Francisco Cervelli 's right arm is killing the Yankees early in their game against the Red Sox.
In the first inning, Cervelli tried to throw out Jacoby Ellsbury on a steal attempt. But his throw sailed wide of second, past Derek Jeter and Robinson Cano and into center field, allowing Ellsbury to advance to third. He later scored on a one-out ground out by Adrian Gonzalez.
The error hurt even more when -- following a Kevin Youkilis walk -- David Ortiz belted a two-run homer to right. It was Ortiz’s second in two days.
Cervelli made another throwing error in the second on Marco Scutaro’s steal attempt, sailing his throw into right-center and allowing Scutaro to get to third.
Scutaro scored on a sac fly by J.D. Drew.
The Red Sox have a 4-0 lead.
