It's rare to hear cheers after an opposing player homers in the Bronx, but that's exactly what the crowd did after Jason Giambi hit a 2-0 pitch from A.J. Burnett deep into the right-field bleachers.
There were audible cheers as the former Yankee first baseman rounded the bases.
Giambi also received a small ovation before his at-bat. Fans in the right field bleachers acknowledged Giambi with a shout out in the roll call. Giambi stepped out of the dugout and waved at the fans in right field.
It was his eighth home run of the season.
