Granderson, Cano, A-Rod, Jeter voted in as AL All-Star starters

The New York Yankees will send six players to Arizona for the 2011 All-Star game. They could’ve -- and probably should’ve -- had more.

Shortstop Derek Jeter, third baseman Alex Rodriguez, second baseman Robinson Cano and center fielder Curtis Granderson were voted in by the fans to be starters, while catcher Russell Martin and closer Mariano Rivera were chosen by their peers and Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington as reserves.

However, left-hander CC Sabathia, who is tied for the major-league lead in wins (11) and first baseman Mark Teixiera, who ranks second majors in home runs (25) and fourth in RBIs (65), were snubbed. Right-hander David Robertson, who has the second-lowest ERA among all major leaguers who have thrown at least 30 innings (1.08) and is tied for the AL-lead among relievers in strikeouts (53), was also not picked.
