Logan bails out Bartolo -- and Joe

He's not always Blown Logan after all. With bases loaded and two out in the fifth inning and Adrian Gonzalez, the best hitter in the American League, coming to the plate, Joe Girardi took a huge gamble by replacing Bartolo Colon with Boone Logan, ostensible left-handed specialist who sometimes has terrible trouble retiring left-handed hitters. Three pitches and two awkward swings later, one at a beautiful 0-1 slider, Gonzalez was down and the Yankees were out of trouble. Yankees still trailing, 2-0, after five on an RBI double off The Monster by Jacoby Ellsbury and a solo home run over the bullpen by David Ortiz.
