Alex Rodriguez will meet with representatives of Major League Baseball today to discuss his alleged involvement in high-stakes poker games that took place in 2009, a baseball source told ESPNNewYork.com..
The meeting will take place around noon at an undisclosed location in Baltimore, where the Yankees will open a five-game series with the Orioles tonight.
According to a person familiar with the proceedings, Rodriguez' attorney, Jay Reisinger, will be present at the meeting.
Rodriguez could face anything from a reprimand to a suspension, as an MLB source told ESPNNewYork.com earlier this month.
But a source in Rodriguez' camp said the Yankees third baseman is not anticipating anything so drastic. "We're not expecting much, but who knows?," said the source.
Last week in Minneapolis, A-Rod called the allegations "unfair and inaccurate" and said he "looked forward" to meeting with baseball officials to discuss the matter.
