Mark Teixeira said his right knee felt "pretty good" following his return to the Yankees lineup Sunday in the 9-3 win against Toronto. Teixeira went 1-for-5 in his return with a single in his first at-bat after misssing the first two games of the series with a bruised right knee that he suffered after being hit by a pitch Thursday in Boston.
"Most of the muscle soreness and tightness is out of there, so that's a great step," Teixeira said. "It was great to play today."
While Teixeira said his knee is still a little sore and tight, he said it was nothing that was going to keep him out of the lineup. He woke up this morning and moved around and did squats to test his knee and could tell that it felt better. He said it felt pretty good during the game.
"It's a little tight and a little sore, but heck, everything's a little tight and sore this time of the year," Teixeira said. "I'm not worried about it at all."
While Teixeira returned to the lineup, Sunday also marks a big day for the first baseman as he will make his acting debut on the HBO series Entourage tonight. Teixeira makes a cameo appearance and has some dialogue, along with teammate Alex Rodriguez. They filmed the scene earlier this year at Yankee Stadium.
"I was really happy. It's a great episode," said Teixeira, who has already seen the episode. "I love Entourage and to be able to be part of the last season, second to last episode and it's a pretty special episode, so it was fun to be a part of."
When asked to compare himself to Rodriguez in the episode, Teixeira opted not to create any acting controversy.
"We were equal, exactly equal," Teixeira joked.
