Gardner delivers 2-run single

Brett Gardner lined a hanging breaking ball from Doug Fister into center to score Jorge Posada and Nick Swisher and give the Yankees a 4-1 lead in the sixth.

Derek Jeter followed through with a sawed off grounder to the right side that made it through the infield because second baseman Ryan Rayburn was covering second on Gardner's steal attempt.

Fister walked Granderson to load the bases and was relieved by righty Al Alburquerque.

Gardner had just two RBIs in 42 post-season at-bats before his two-run single.
