The Captain gets it started for A.J.

The goal going in for the Yankees and A.J. Burnett was to get him a lead early. The thought was to relax him with runs.

So who got the Yankees started?

Derek Jeter.

In the third, Jeter nailed a rocket double into left center off Mets fan Rick Porcello to score his buddy, Jorge Posada, and Russell Martin on his slick slide around catcher Alex Avila. It made it 2-0 Yankees.

Jeter was the last to know because he thought that Austin Jackson got to it. From his vantage point, he could only see Jackson's back.

"I actually thought he caught it," Jeter said.

Jeter is hitting .263 in the series.
