Manny Banuelos knows why he didn't shoot through the Yankees system and end up in the Bronx last season. His fastball location wasn't good enough.
"That's what hurt me last year," Banuelos said. "That is what I'm going to try and improve this year."
Banuelos walked 71 batters in 129-2/3 innings. He will begin the year at Triple-A and, if I had to predict, I doubt you will see much, if any of him, in the Bronx. Next year, he could enter spring training fighting for the No. 5 spot in the rotation.
This offseason, Banuelos didn't play winter ball.
"They didn't let me," Banuelos said.
Did he care?
"Not really," Banuelos said.
