Raul Ibanez just launched one practically over the right-field bleachers at The Boss off Baltimore starter Jason Hammel leading off the second inning to pull the Yankees into a 1-1 tie with the Orioles.
It was by far the best-hit ball all spring by Ibanez, who has struggled mightily in his role as the Yankees left-handed DH. The HR was Ibanez' second of the spring -- he has five RBI -- and raised his average above .100 (he is now at .109) for the first time in a week.
The Orioles took advantage of some shoddy Yankees defense to gain a 1-0 lead over starter David Phelps in the second inning of tonight's game when Matt Wieters hit a rocket over the head of right-fielder Andruw Jones -- who did not seem to take a good route to the baseball -- for a one-out triple. Wieters then scored on an error by Alex Rodriguez , who tried to windmill Mark Reynolds' sharp grounder right at him.
