Was this a case of Al B. Al?
Well ... sort of.
Third base coach Rob Thompson also deserves his share of the blame.
Fourth inning. No out. A-Rod on second. Robinson Cano on first.
Mark Teixeira hits a single to left.
Mind you, King Felix is on the mound. And he’s only surrendered two runs at Yankee Stadium ever.
Anyway, it should’ve been bases loaded, no out and a chance to break it open.
Instead, A-Rod hesitated rounding third and Thompson waived him home.
Needless to say, A-Rod was out by several feet.
Nick Swisher followed by grounding back to the mound, and Raul Ibanez struck out.
The score remains 1-1. Count this as a lost opportunity.
