ANAHEIM, Calif. -- They had almost come together violently in the first inning, the right fielder and the center fielder converging on the baseball at a full run, but at the last moment Nick Swisher heard Curtis Granderson calling for Maicer Izturis' drive and slid to safety on the warning track.

The second time, they weren't so lucky, because this time, the crowd was a lot louder and the ball hit more on a line. This time, Swisher and Granderson ran into one another, both tumbled to the ground, and the ball popped loose, resulting in a triple for Kendrys Morales leading off the third.

Granderson bounced right up but Swisher went down hard, and afterward, neither could really remember what had happened. But both seemed fine after what appeared to be a frightening, and potentially catastrophic, outfield mishap.

"I haven't run into somebody like that in a long time,'' Swisher said. "Everything happened so quick. He just kinda deadlegged me with his knee. Next thing I know, I turn to look, and Curt’s running after the ball. And I’m like, 'Well, he’s OK.'''

"I feel fine,'' Granderson said. "I didn't even have any grass marks on me, any dirt. I don't know what happened. I'll let you know after I see the replay.''
