Russell Martin is out of the lineup again, but Joe Girardi said it was just to rest his catcher after having played the past two games in 90-plus degree weather in New York . . . Derek Jeter gets his ninth DH day of the season, which means Jayson Nix gets his sixth start at shortstop . . . Freddy Garcia is making his first start since April 28, when he couldn't get out of the second inning against the Detroit Tigers, allowing six earned runs. Since then, Garcia has made 10 relief appearances, none longer than 2-1/3 innings, so Girardi is hoping for "five or six innings out of him," or about 75 pitches. If Freddy falters early, D.J. Mitchell will be the long man . . . Garcia is 9-2 lifetime vs. the Rays with a 3.28 ERA, and has not allowed a run against them in his last 9-2/3 innings . . . Matt Moore has only made one other start against the Yankees, last Sept. 22, and threw five shutout innings in a 15-8 Tampa Bay win at Yankee Stadium.
