Andruw: I'm off the playoff roster

Not only did Andruw Jones reveal he has been left off the ALDS roster, he said it was the right call.

“I don’t think I deserve to be on,” Jones said.

In the second half of the season, Jones hit .142 in 106 at-bats. He hit three homers and drove in 12 runs.

Joe Girardi declined to reveal his playoff roster, so ESPNNewYork.com tried to survey as many bubble players as possible. A disappointed Cody Eppley told us he is off. Brett Gardner told Wally Matthews he is on. Jayson Nix said he hasn't been told yet. Derek Lowe and Eduardo Nunez were unavailable, but we are projecting Nix, Lowe and Nunez as the winners in the Maryland primary.

We explained our reasoning here.

After Nix got healthy, it seemed the only way that Jones could make the team was if Derek Jeter insisted. Jones has replaced Jorge Posada as Jeter's BFF off the field. On the field, Jones didn't look like a future Hall of Famer.

“I didn’t finish as strong, the way I wanted to finish,” Jones said. “I blame myself more than anything to not be on the roster....I’m disappointed in myself. We are here to win -- not to see who is on the roster or not. We just want to win the games and move on to the next series.”

Jones is eligible to be added to the ALCS roster.
