Jeter: 'I am right where I should be'

Derek Jeter reiterated that he expects to be ready by Opening Day.

"I do," Jeter told the Daily News at the Yankees' facility in Tampa. "I feel good. I am where I need to be (physically). I am right where I should be."

Jeter confirmed he is still mostly rehabbing his surgically-repaired right ankle in the water. He is not running yet on dry ground and has yet to begin baseball activities. He said he is not behind his regular offseason routine.

"I feel good about it," Jeter told the News. "Why wouldn't I?"
