Yanks beat Twins, 9-7

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Yankees rallied for four runs in the eighth inning, two on a double by Ronnier Mustelier, to beat the Minnesota Twins, 9-7, in Ft. Myers.

Ivan Nova, competing with David Phelps for the fifth starter's job, started and went 5-1/3, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits, including back-to-back home runs by Justin Morneau and Ryan Doumit in the second inning. Robinson Cano had a two-run double in the third, Musty went 3-for-4 and Eduardo Nunez went 2-for-4. Right-hander Jim Miller, who has a chance to make the team in middle relief, was charged with a blown save for allowing the Twins to tie the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the sixth, but wound up getting the win.

The Yankees travel to Lakeland on Saturday for a 1:05 p.m. game against the Tigers. Andy Pettitte will start.
