Brian Cashman said that Derek Jeter received treatment on his cranky ankle on Monday, but the GM couldn't say what the next step will be for the Yankees' captain.
Jeter is expected to land on the DL to start the season. So far in spring training, he has yet to play more than five innings in a game. It seems unlikely he will be able to be ready by April 6, which is the first day he would be eligible to come off the DL.
Instead he may not be in the Yankee lineup until late April or early May. When he does return, there is a question of how effective he will be off the injury.
