CLEVELAND -- Derek Jeter took batting practice on the field in Tampa on Wednesday, fielded ground balls and ran in the outfield, activities that manager Joe Girardi called "good signs" in Jeter's recovery from a broken ankle.
"He did all his stuff today, so it was good," Girardi said. "The fact that he didn't have to back off of the running I think is a good sign."
Girardi said he believed Jeter was scheduled for a day off Friday. "It's going to be interesting to see how he feels tomorrow," Girardi said.
There is still no timetable for Jeter to return to playing in minor league games, nor any scheduled date for his return to the Yankees.
