A month's worth of production over the past seven days has earned Yankees left fielder Alfonso Soriano American League Player of the Week honors.
New York Yankees
In the past week, Soriano hit .484 (15-for-31) with five home runs, 18 RBIs and nine runs scored.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Soriano drove in a combined 13 runs -- including a new career high of seven on Wednesday.
In 21 games since being acquired by the Yankees via trade, the 37-year-old is hitting .306 with eight homers and 26 RBIs.
If you recall, Yankees GM Brian Cashman did not want to give up minor league right-hander Corey Black in a deal for Soriano, but was overruled by ownership.
Black, 22, is 2-0 with a 3.21 ERA in three starts for Advanced Class A Daytona.
