Yankees honoring Mandela on Tuesday

NEW YORK -- The New York Yankees will pay tribute to Nelson Mandela on Tuesday, prior to their game against the Chicago Cubs.

A plaque in Mandela's honor will be unveiled in Monument Park during a pregame ceremony.

Earlier in the day, a news conference will be held at Yankee Stadium. Participants will include Zondwa Mandela, a grandson of the late South African leader, who died in December at the age of 95. Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig and Yankees managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner will also be on hand, along with several other members of the Steinbrenner family.

Rachel and Sharon Robinson, the widow and daughter of the late Jackie Robinson, will be there as well. The event coincides with Jackie Robinson Day, celebrated each year by Major League Baseball on April 15 to honor the man who broke MLB's color barrier.
