Game 107: Blue Jays @ Yankees

4:07 p.m. Game's over -- Yankees win, 5-1. Game lasted 2 hours and 59 minutes, but it feels like it ended in the first inning, when A-Rod hit career home run No. 600. Andrew Marchand and I are headed to the clubhouse -- we'll have plenty of reaction on A-Rod a little later, as well as on Derek Jeter, who went 4-for-4 and reached a couple of milestones today himself.

4:01 p.m. Still 5-1, and we're heading to the ninth. "Enter Sandman" pouring through the Stadium speakers.

3:42 p.m. A-Rod grounds back to the pitcher, and we head to the eighth inning. David Robertson in to pitch.

3:40 p.m. Runners on first and third, two outs, and A-Rod gets his fourth at-bat of the day, this time vs. Shawn Camp. Marcum exited after six innings.

3:30 p.m. Joba gets through the seventh unscathed.

3:22 p.m. Yanks go down 1-2-3 in the sixth. Joba Chamberlain coming in to pitch the seventh.

3:15 p.m. Logan gets the Yankees out of the sixth.

3:07 p.m. Hughes' day is done after 5 1/3 innings. Boone Logan coming in, with a runner on first base.

2:57 p.m. A-Rod pops out to short.

2:51 p.m. Marcum getting roughed up in the fifth -- Gardner double, Jeter bunt single, Swisher walk, and Teixeira single drives home two runs. It's 5-1, still no one out, and here comes Mr. Rodriguez.

2:41 p.m. Hughes has a 1-2-3 fifth, and we're halfway home here in the Bronx. Rather strange game -- the air has definitely gone out of the building to a large degree since A-Rod hit No. 600.

2:33 p.m. Yanks go down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the fourth.

2:27 p.m. Hughes limits the damage to one run in the fourth. He has five strikeouts through four innings.

2:23 p.m. Blue Jays are on the board -- a single, a walk and a double, and it's now 3-1.

2:09 p.m. So does Robinson Cano, and we head to the fourth inning.

2:05 p.m. A-Rod grounds out to short.

2:04 p.m. Jeter doubled to lead off the third, and Mark Teixeira drove him home with a double. It's 3-0 Yankees. Now, A-Rod steps to the plate, his first attempt at No. 601.

2:00 p.m. By the way, A-Rod must love August 4th -- he hit his 500th career home run on Aug. 4, 2007.

1:57 p.m. Hughes surrendered his first base runners in the third, with a leadoff walk and then a single. But he worked out of trouble -- Blue Jays are scoreless through three innings.

1:45 p.m. Yanks strand Curtis Granderson (single, stolen base) at second. Heading to the third inning.

1:39 p.m. Alex Rodriguez home run No. 600 T-shirts and commemorative programs are already on sale here at Yankee Stadium. That was quick -- a lot quicker than No. 600 was.

1:35 p.m. Hughes had no problem getting back into the game though -- he's retired all six batters he has faced thus far.

1:32 p.m. It's a little hard to get back into the game after that -- we've got eight more innings to play! I'm sure it's hard for the crowd too -- they gave A-Rod another huge cheer when he came out of the dugout for a curtain call, and again when he took the field to start the top of the second.

1:26 p.m. Man, did A-Rod put a charge into that 2-0 pitch from Shaun Marcum, hitting it out to straightaway center field. And he put a charge into this crowd, too -- like a tremendous surge of electricity.

1:25 p.m. Ladies and gentlemen, he did it.

1:23 p.m. Derek Jeter on first (single), two outs, and Alex Rodriguez steps to the plate, seeking No. 600 once again.

1:14 p.m. Hughes starts off the game with a 1-2-3 top of the first.

1:08 p.m. Travis Snider fouls off Phil Hughes' first pitch, and we're under way at Yankee Stadium.
