Game 56: Mariners (28-28) @ Yankees (29-26)

NEW YORK -- The Yankees escaped facing King Felix Hernandez when the Mariners were here in April due to a rainout, but tonight, the bill comes due when Felix starts the makeup game at the Stadium.

Here's the Yankees lineup:

Brett Gardner LF

Derek Jeter SS

Jacoby Ellsbury CF

Brian McCann C

Yangervis Solarte 3B

Alfonso Soriano DH

Ichiro Suzuki RF

Brian Roberts 2B

Kelly Johnson 1B

David Phelps RHP

NOTES: In case you were wondering, Robinson Cano is in the Seattle lineup tonight, batting third. Cano is hitting .327 ... Surprisingly, Joe Girardi did not rule out the possibility that David Robertson, who threw 28 pitches Sunday night in blowing the save against the Twins, and 27 the previous night, might be available to close tonight. Girardi was asked who would close if Robertson can't go. "Somebody else," he said ... Hernandez is 8-5 with a 2.89 ERA in 16 career starts vs. the Yankees but has not lost to them in two years and is 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA in four starts dating back to July 24, 2012. At Yankee Stadium, Hernandez is 5-2, 2.01 in eight career starts. Jacoby Ellsbury (.320, 8-for-25, 2 HRs) and Brian Roberts (.364, 12-for-33) have hit him well, but the one Yankee who really handles him, Mark Teixeira (19-for-64 with 5 HRs and 9 RBI), is out of the lineup once again with wrist soreness ... Phelps is 1-0 with a 1.23 ERA against the Mariners.
