Game 66: Yankees (34-31) @ Athletics (40-26)

OAKLAND -- The Yankees try to build on the momentum they gained with their just-completed three-game sweep of the Mariners in Seattle on Friday as they open a three-game series tonight against the AL-best Oakland Athletics. David Phelps gets the ball for the Yankees, facing RHP Sonny Gray, first pitch at 10:05 p.m.

Here's the Yankees lineup:

Brett Gardner LF

Derek Jeter SS

Jacoby Ellsbury CF

Mark Teixeira 1B

Brian McCann C

Carlos Beltran DH

Ichiro Suzuki RF

Brian Roberts 2B

Kelly Johnson 3B

Phelps RHP

NOTES: Ellsbury tight right hip, which caused Joe Girardi to pull him in the seventh inning of last night's game, was well enough Friday for him to be back in the lineup. ... Johnson is getting his first start in five days because, Girardi said, Yangervis Solarte "looks like he could use a day off. He scuffled a little bit in Seattle with a lot of ground balls, and sometimes that can be a sign of fatigue." ... With the A's in first place in the AL West, and the Yankees being the Yankees, and Jeter making his last visit to the O.Co, all three games this weekend are sold out. ... This will be Phelps' first career start vs. Oakland, although he has made three relief appearances against them, allowing no runs and one hit in five innings. ... Gray has never faced the Yankees, although Brian Roberts has a hit in his only career at-bat against him.
