Besides Yangervis Solarte being sent down, we have some other morning notes:
On the Move?: Yankees assistant GM Billy Eppler is interviewing for the San Diego Padres GM job on Thursday, Buster Olney tweeted. Eppler has been an up-and-coming GM candidate for a couple of years now. This particular spot could make some extra sense for him because he grew in San Diego.
CC Survives: CC Sabathia survived his rehab start in Trenton on Wednesday night, though his numbers weren't particularly good. He went 3 1/3 innings, allowing five (three earned) on five hits. He struck out two, walked one and hit a batter.
“The changeup was cutting,” Sabathia told reporters. “The slider wasn’t as sharp as I wanted it to be. We’ll do some work on those things, but overall, I felt pretty good.”
Sabathia still is aiming to return around the All-Star Break, probably right after it.
