7:53: Moreland fights off CC for nine pitches and singles to left on the 10th

7:48: Treanor flies to center and Rangers are down to their final out

7:47: Francoeur hits it hard on the ground but right at Cano for the first out of the ninth

7:43: Yanks down in the eighth and Metallica is in the house as Mariano makes his way to the mound for the ninth with a five-run lead

7:36: Granderson hits a heat-seeking missile into the RF seats to extend the Yanks lead to 7-2

7:28: Tremendous play by A-Rod: diving stop on Kinsler's grounder, spin and throw for the final out of the eighth. RHP Alexi Ogando coming in to pitch the bottom of the eighth

7:26: Wood blows away Murphy with three pitches

7:25: One pitch, one out for Wood as Vlad taps back to the mound

7:24: Wood has worked more than one inning six times in 24 appearances as a Yankee; Mo stretching out in the bullpen

7:21: Thames pops out, Berkman strikes out and Wood is coming out to pitch the eighth

7:14: With one out, A-Rod walks, then steals second with Thames at bat

7:03: Wood strikes out Hamilton with a curve and Yankees are six outs away from taking this one back to Texas

7:00: Andrus leans toward third and Wood alertly picks him off for the second out. With the best hitter in the playoffs at bat, that is the dumbest play of the postseason by far

6:25: Rangers get a run as Treanor grounds to A-Rod, who hesitated and could only get the out at first. Texas has second and third with two out, Moreland at bat, down 6-2

6:24: Crowd chanting CC as the big guy goes full to Treanor with bases juiced

6:20: Francoeur smokes a single to right and rangers have bases loaded with one out, and Dave Eiland heads out to the mound

6:18: Rangers get their tenth hit as Kinsler singles past A-Rod

6:16: CC allows his ninth hit, a one-out liner to right byMurphy, but has limited the runs to just one so far

6:07: Yanks get another run as Berkman flies to the track in center, scoring Swisher. 6-1 in the fifth

6:05: After wilson falls behind 2-0, Rangers decide to walk Thames, load the bases, pitch to Berkman

6:02: Rangers get a break when A-Rod's shot into LF gap bounces over the fence, ground rule double prevents Swisher, who walked, from scoring. Second and third, one out for Thames

5:55: CC escapes trouble again as Hamilton hits into inning ending 4-6-3

5:53: Young lines a single to right but Moreland has to wait to be sure it will drop, only gets to second. Hamilton up with two on, one out

5:50: Moreland follows Treanor's HR with a single to center. CC has allowed seven hits but just one run so far

5:46: Rangers are on the board as Matt Treanor homers to left leading off the fifth. 5-1 Yankees

5:41: Jeter grounds out to short for the third time in four innings to end the frame

5:36: Posada leads off the Yanks fourth with a double to left, goes to third on Granderson's fly out to center

5:27: HP ump Fieldin Culbeth punches out Kinsler on a check swing that was more like a twitch; Francoeur grounds to Jeter to end the fourth

5:25: Berkman is up and resumes his position at firs; appeared to hit his lower back on the dirt

5:24: Berkman's feet slide out formunder him chasing Kinsler's foul pop and he's still down, being attended by trainers near box seats along RF line

5:22: With one out, Cruz doubles to right-center gap. CC has been hit hard in every inning but so far, escaped damage

5:09: Cano buries one in the RF seats and it's 5-0 Yankees

5:08: swisher, who came into the game hitting .067 in the ALCS, hits Wilson's 0-1 pitch into the left-field seats and it's 4-0 Yankees

5:04: Hamilton lines to Jeter to end the inning

5:03: Andrus steals third without a throw

5:00: Young's groundout moves Andrus to second with Hamilton at bat

4:57: CC strikes out Moreland for the first out of the third, but Andrus' topper eludes A-Rod;s barehand attempt and stops, comically, on the third-base line for an infield hit, Rangers' fourth of the game

4:47: Granderson singles to right and the Rangers throw the ball all over the field, allowing both runners to score, 3-0 Yankees. score it a single, one RBI, an error on right-fielder Francoeur allowing Posada to score and Granderson to reach second

4:44: Posada singles in the hole, A-Rod scores and Yanks take a 1-0 lead

4:42: after Thames pops out to the infield, Berkman walks to give Posada to runners to shoot for

4:37: A-Rod walks to lead off the second

4:33: After Kinsler steals second, CC fans Treanor with a slider. So far, Rangers putting pressure on Yankees, getting none in return

4:27: With one out, Kinsler singles to center, Rangers' third hit off CC in less than two innings

4:22: Cano grounds out weakly to end a quiet Yankee first

4:19: Andrus bobbles Jeter's grounder, spins around, still throws Jeter out at first; Swisher hits it hard to center but Hamilton runs it down, two out

4:13: CC puts his FB in a perfect spot, lower outside corner, and Vlad goes down looking to end the first

4:11: Hamilton singles sharply to right. All three batters have hit the ball solidly off CC so far

4:10: Young raps into a 6-4-3 DP

4:08: Andrus lines CC's second pitch into centerfield for a single

4:07: Sabathia's first pitch is a strike to Elvis Andrus; game time temp 59 degrees, skies oatmeal gray over the Bronx

-game Clubhouse Chatter: With Mark Teixeira lost for the rest of the post-season with a hamstring strain, Lance Berkman takes over at first base and Robinson Cano moves up to third in the batting order. . . Today would have been Bob Sheppard's 100th birthday. Sheppard's successor as PA announcer, Paul Olden, asked for a moment of silence in his honor . . . The Yankees trotted out two remembrances of miracles past, Aaron Boone and Bucky Dent, to throw out simultaneous ceremonial first pitches.
