The Dallas Cowboys are shopping former first-round pick Bobby Carpenter, according to ESPNDallas.com's Calvin Watkins. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that offensive tackle Alex Barron, a restricted free agent who hasn't signed his tender, could be traded to the Cowboys.
The move would make sense with Dallas likely using second-round draft pick Sean Lee to replace Carpenter in nickel and dime coverages this season. Barron, who's never lived up to his first-round pedigree with the St. Louis Rams, could be the swing tackle the Cowboys need to back up both Doug Free and Marc Colombo.
We'll let you know if there are any developments. I have a call into Carpenter as we speak.
