Phillips made a believer out of Brooking

In a conference call with local reporters Monday afternoon, new Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking said Wade Phillips' presence at Valley Ranch had a big influence on him signing with the club. Brooking went on to say that Phillips "creates a great working atmosphere."

Especially for bloggers! Brooking remembers playing for Wade Phillips the defensive coordinator. He only had a small sampling of what Phillips is like as a head coach -- when Dan Reeves walked away with three games remaining in 2003.

"I've never heard a player in my two years there with him in Atlanta speak of Wade as a soft coach," Brooking said. "I mean, I never, ever heard that. I've seen Wade. I think he's a players' coach. I think he does a great job of communicating with the players. There's an open line of communication, but I think he expects a lot from his players."
